About the role:
Thames Water is in the process of enhancing its in-house DSEAR (Dangerous Substances & Explosive Atmospheres Regulations) capability. The company has over 300 sewage treatment works and 3000 waste pumping stations with explosion-protected equipment installed and maintained. A total of eleven new roles have been created. This is an opportunity to join a major industry leader in environmental management and contribute to keeping our workers and local communities safe.
The Hazardous Area Electrical Engineer role is key in addressing the risk of explosion across the Thames Water catchment area. It primarily involves the undertaking of sites surveys to collect asset data, identify gaps and influence the necessary corrective actions to achieve full compliance with regulations.
The successful candidate will be contributing to the success of DSEAR Compliance improvements across the business as well as the overall promotion of explosion prevention strategies with numerous stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities:
- Undertake site surveys and report on ATEX electrical non-compliances
- Support development of ATEX asset management system by collecting asset data from all sites to build ATEX registers and Termination registers
- Coordinate production of Intrinsically Safe Loop Drawing and Descriptive System Documents
- Assess solutions for Non-compliance corrective actions and validate technical information and specifications
- Provide feedback to the workstream continuous improvement process
- Support Capital Delivery projects - Act as a gatekeeper for new project DSEAR documentation
- Maintain a document management system and ensure latest versions are available to stakeholders.....
