KBR/FTX LOGISTICS 360 CAREER RESETTLEMENT SUCCESS WITH BFRS
BFRS recently had the pleasure of meeting and speaking to Lee from KBR/FTX Logistics who was at our careers fair as an exhibitor. What we discovered whilst speaking to Lee was that he had attended the same BFRS event last year as an attendee.
Lee explained that he had a 24 year long career in the British Army and that he had left the Armed Forces in September 2022. He went on to tell us that he attended our Catterick Careers Fair not long after in March 2023 and that is where he met the team at KBR FTX. He subsequently went on to join KBR FTX in June 2023.
Its clear that Lee is enjoying his new role which entails him driving the large green low loaders that transport tanks for the Armed Forces. Lee also explained that this offers him a Reserve role whereby he can continue to support the Army, giving him the opportunity to feel like he is still playing a part.
Lee was at the event to help support attendees by giving them the wisdom of his lived resettlement advice and the benefit of his experience in a new civilian role which is invaluable to others starting on the same journey.
Lee's resettlement advice is to..
- Start early!
- Attend BFRS events
- Network with as many companies as possible and don't discount anything
- Create a BFRS jobseeker profile as this allows you to apply for training and roles as well as contact companies direct
- Don't be scared to talk to people at a Careers fair as most will be ex-military and fully understand the journey
- Go to as many events as possible and speak to all the companies there if you can as the one you miss could be the one that has the perfect role for you!
- Don't Pidgeon hole yourself, there are many career paths you can take that don't have to be the same as your Armed Forces role.
- Lastly, as a member of the Armed Forces you have the skills, attitude, and experience that these companies are looking for with lots of jobs available so get out there and start exploring the possibilities
