Welcome back to the BFRS Blog!
This week’s installment will be all about the recent activity here at BFRS and there is plenty to update you on!
What's New?
We have welcomed a new member to the BFRS team. Konstantina Bouranta has joined us as Business Development Assistant and will be helping the team with the general day to day administrative tasks, as well as assisting in client management and business development. Konstantina has only been with us a couple of weeks and has already been thrown in at the deep end by assisting us at our recent Armed Forces Careers Fair in Leicester on what was just her second week on the job! Talk about baptism of fire. She did really well, as we expected, and we are all very excited to work with her more moving forward. The team at BFRS is continuing to grow and it is always refreshing to meet new people from different backgrounds and see how they can help shape the fabric of the company. There will be more people joining the BFRS team over the coming weeks, assisting in different areas across the business, and we are looking forwards to introducing each team member to you all as and when they join.
Our Most Recent Event:
Now on to the Leicester event, and what a day that was! We were certainly blessed with the weather as the sun shone from start to finish. Fortunately, the venue had air-conditioning which certainly helped attendees and exhibitors stay cool! This event was a bit different to our usual Careers Fairs as this time there was a welcomed addition of an outside exhibition area. Like I said, we were lucky with the weather! Companies utilized the outside space by bringing rapid response vehicles, driving simulators and there was even an ice-cream van giving out free ice-cream! Football Fun Factory brought their giant inflatable target board and it was great to see attendees (and many exhibitors!) having fun and engaging with the team. I had a go on the target myself and very nearly took out a poor unsuspecting attendee in the queue for ice-cream… Thankfully it was a foam ball! We do market our events as being for the entire Armed Forces Community, meaning military spouses and children are welcome too, and it was great to see the little (and big!) ones enjoying all the interactive entertainment outside. We’ve already started thinking of ways to make future events as engaging as this one. If you have any ideas on how we could make this happen, contact us to let us know!
We had over 65+ companies exhibiting with us at Leicester, all with employment and training opportunities available, often nationwide, and it was great to see hundreds of attendees engaging with these companies and starting these conversations that will inevitably kick-start their resettlement. Our face-to-face events are truly something special, and with twelve weeks to go until our next event in Tidworth, we can’t wait to continue connecting the AFC with fantastic organizations. When you consider the five events we host over the course of the year, each with hundreds of attendees, it equates to over 2000 people being supported. This is certainly something the team here at BFRS are extremely proud of and we are always looking for new ways to support the AFC and ensure that no-one is disadvantaged by their incredible service to our country.
What's Happening This Week?
In line with service to our county, this week (at the time of writing) is Armed Forces Week, with Armed Forces Day taking place this weekend. As an office we’ve been discussing the ways we can mark the moment and take the time to pause and celebrate our wonderful Armed Forces. We settled on hosting a coffee and cake hour one lunchtime this week, inviting local businesses to attend. Who doesn’t love cake? I’d love to hear how you celebrated Armed Forces day so please do get in touch!
That’s pretty much it in terms of big changes and activity here at BFRS. The team have been having plenty of exciting meetings with companies and organisations we’re working with, and we’re excited to be able to update you on all the plans coming very soon! Watch this space.
